Restrooms could be kept cleaner. Plenty of parking. Vending machines at restrooms with plenty of options.

Nice 3 miles (round trip) walk along the river. Open field possible to see Elk but didn't have any when we were there

Been here a few times. Great for history.

Several years ago they held a old timey festival maybe during the fall with many booths with people recreating old activities like old toy making for kids, blacksmith, sorghum syrup making with a horse walking around machine that squeezes juice from cane. Not sure if they still have this event but it was great.

Park store on North Carolina side. Staff helpful and friendly. One elk out in the field and another one was bugelling not far away

Great visitor center and a nice place to experience local history. Love the old buildings and the walk along the river.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Excellent rest stop before going over the mountain. Walk along the large creek and let kids play, explore the trails deeper along the water for a quick escape into the Smokies beautiful nature. Walk through the "Old Farm" as my family has always called it to see what life was once like - cabin, corn crib, barn. Come here at the right season and you'll see pigs in a pen in the mud, a nice vegetable garden. When we recently stopped there was a fly fishing class taking place in the field. In the evenings and mornings you can see many Elk out roaming the fields and take pictures.
